Around Harrachov without barriers

A beautiful day trip around a mountain town Harrachov is well accessible by both a battery powered wheelchair and a manual one. The starting point is a bus station where it´s possible to park your car. Then pass by Šindelka museum (not accessible for a wheelchair) and then continue to nearby Meet Point Bistro Mumlava. There´s not only an accessible entrance, but also good food and wide range of beverages to choose from and accessible toilet for disabled.

The trail continues across the town´s by pass about 800 m and leads to the well-known Mumlava Fall. This trail is the favorite one by the most of visitors.

You´ll get to srub U Lišáka restaurant where are steps and not accessible toilet. There are tables and benches outside and the staff is always helpful to disabled guests.

There a way down to the Mumlava Fall is exactly opposite to the srub U Lišáka restaurant. The water drainage system crossing the way was repaired workers of the Giant Mountains National Park, but still be careful about some stones in the way you have to pass by. There is a wooden path with few stones at the beginning, but it isn´t dificult to overcome them. It´s not possible to go down closer to the water, but the view itself is worth it.

You can see „giant pots“ or „kettle holes eroded by water and stones bit futher up the fall. One of the favourite spots of cold water swimmers.

We continue from the restaurant about 2 km by a pleasant road in the forrest called Harrach´s road. We continue by passing Norma supermarket via major road. Your direction is the only chimney stack in Harrachov, the glass factory chimney.

We can have a look at the chapel of St. Elisabeth with a glass bell and here we are the oldest glass factory in in the Czech Republic and it might be the oldest in he world. The tour can be arranged in Czech, German and English by phone in advance. You will get in and can watch glass makers at work. What an experience.

There is a glass museum you can also visit where you can see about 5000 pieces of exhibits. Wheelchair users can use ane levator.

There are too many stairs to the glass factory restaurant and brewery. There is ane levator, but only for cargo. You can buy a beer as a souvenir at the reception of the glass factory. By the way, an accessible toilet is close.

We can go about 300 m to the bobsleigh attraction. The stroll around is accessible. Have a look at a shoe tree, monkey trail hanging in trees and terrace where you can sit and get a refreshment. No accessible toilet tho.

We can get to the St. John of Nepomuk stream and statue via St. Ann´s Valley. We stroll by big menhirs close to the chair lift and a beer pub Pivnice U Krtka. You can only sit outside, there are couple of steps in the the entrance door.

There is an Giant Mountains National Park Info Center back to the bus station. There are menhirs in front of Ski Centrum hotel. Go around them three times while thinking of your wishes.
