The National Library of Ireland is an impressive building used primarily for study purposes, so the number of visitors from outside is limited. However, each newcomer can go to any exhibition that is currently being organized, focused on the literary important personalities; for example, William Butler Yeats or Seamus Heaney.

The collection includes 6,000,000 books, prints, drawings, maps and also manuscripts of famous writers. They can compile a genealogical family tree for the public for free according to available information and documents.

The National Library does its best to make its premises accessible to people with disabilities. The building is barrier-free via the main entrance from Kildare Street via a ramp.

The most interesting is the spacious main reading room has shape of a semicircle. Up to 75 readers can fit under the impressive dome. The wheelchair user can get to the first floor by elevator.

The exhibition hall on the lower ground floor is also accessible by the lift, which is in the entrance hall (Front Hall) on the right. There are also beautiful stained glass windows depicting famous philosophers and writers.

You can finish your tour of this unique place in the Café Joly, named after the first sponsor. Places can be reserved. There is something on the menu for both lover of meat and vegetarians and they have a selection of interesting and very good sweets for coffee lovers.

Výstavní síň ve sníženém přízemí je také přístupná výtahem, který je ve vstupní hale (Front Hall) napravo. Jsou tady také krásné vitráže, zobrazující známé filozofy a spisovatele.

Zakončit svou prohlídku tohoto jedinečného místa můžete v kavárně Joly, pojmenované po prvním sponzorovi. Místa si lze zarezervovat. Na jídelníčku se najde něco jak pro masožravce, tak i vegetariány a ke kávě mají výběr zajímavých a moc dobrých sladkostí.
